My role was to evaluate existing UI & UX, explore potential changes, and propose improvements, if feasible.

Important constrain - there was no possibility of re-coding the app, all functions were to stay the same (meaning - I could only "tweak" UI). Another limitation - no budget for usability tests.

After discussion with product owners I conducted heuristic evaluation of the app, followd by surveys with several users. Finally, using gathered data I propose following changes:

  • key change - order of procesess and tasks should be changed to reflect real-life flow of documents and finances;
  • modification of tab index, so it would reflect real sequence in wich users enter/edit data;
  • spliting the menu into 3 levels;
  • improving legibility of menus;
  • improving contrast of text;
  • implementation of informative headers & captions;
  • improving scannability & readability of tables by adding padding to cells;
  • clear hierarchy of content;
  • visual separation of sections in every screen using color and position;
  • clearly noticeable edit mode;
  • clearly marking status of document or process.
